Worcester Polytechnic Institute has launched a new MBA program in analytics. The coursework aims to equip students with analytics tools specifically for science, technology, engineering, and math, and will begin in the fall 2024 semester.
"The volume of digital data available for business decision-making has grown significantly over the past decade, and businesses are increasingly relying on data to make better decisions," Debora Jackson, dean of the WPI Business School, said in the press release. "This has led to a surge in the demand for professionals proficient in analytics, making our program a valuable addition to our offerings. With our industry-savvy faculty and focus on STEM, we are positioned to prepare graduates to lead in strategic data-informed decision-making."
WPI’s MBA program was previously a two-year online degree, geared toward those in engineering and science fields. The new program is full time and in person and meets criteria laid out by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to be designated in STEM-designated, according to a Monday press release from WPI.
STEM-designation generally involves research, innovation, or development of new technologies. Students in the program will be able to choose from concentrations in applied business analytics, data-driven strategic management, marketing analytics, and operations analytics.
